In honour of Black History Month, Normanhurst hosted an engaging Hair Braiding Workshop that brought together students from Year 1 to Year 6. Led by local hair braiding expert Ms Donnalee, the workshop highlighted the rich history and significance of hair braiding in Africa.
The event began with an informative demonstration, where Ms Donnalee shared the origins of various braiding styles, explaining how they reflect personal identity, community, and heritage. Pupils were captivated by stories of how different styles, from cornrows to box braids, convey important cultural messages.
Following the demonstration, pupils paired up to practice their new skills with brilliant results!
