Our Year 2 pupils took part in an exciting local walk to explore microhabitats as part of their science topic. The children eagerly investigated the different environments around our school and nearby green spaces. They discovered a variety of microhabitats such as under logs, in bushes, and even within patches of grass. They had the opportunity to observe various creatures up close in their natural surroundings.
The walk was not only a chance for our budding scientists to get some fresh air and exercise, but also a valuable hands-on learning experience. Pupils discussed the importance of these small habitats for different animals, and how these creatures depend on them for shelter and food. This exploration ties in perfectly with our science curriculum, helping pupils to develop their observation skills and encouraging them to appreciate the wonders of nature right on our doorstep!
