The senior curriculum is differentiated and challenging, with the teaching developing explicit thinking skills. We aim for a collaborative partnership between teachers and pupils so that the pupils are able to talk about their learning, take initiative and progress towards success.
Our smaller class sizes and more individual attention at this most crucial stage are highly valued by pupils and parents. There are extra booster GCSE classes in the Easter holiday and our staff offer extra lessons as the examination period draws closer.
We make the most of our location and take learning outside the classroom into the environment for subjects such as Art, Science and Geography. There are a number of curriculum-related trips that take place each term as we are keen for our pupils to have a rounded and rewarding experience of learning. These include languages study trips and ski trips.
Our Gifted and Talented programme offers enrichment opportunities to the most able pupils. These include entering national writing competitions, visits to the Houses of Parliament and exhibitions at the Royal Festival Hall.
